The standardisation and provisioning layer for product data.
metaparts.eu is a vendor-neutral standardisation and provisioning layer for product data (“Provisioning & Standardization Layer”). The portal sits between companies’ source systems and the parties requesting data: customers, trading platforms, authorities, engineering tools and repositories.
The concept rests on three building blocks:
- Virtual articles with MPDI – more than 9 million vendor-neutral product descriptions based on ECLASS, each with a unique identifier, the MetaParts Data Identifier (MPDI).
- VMID verification – a tiered quality seal for manufacturer data, from Bronze to Platinum.
- Provisioning in standard formats – BMEcat, Asset Administration Shell (AASX and AAS API), Digital Product Passport (DPP API) as well as exports and assortments.
The guiding principle: Provide product data once – use it everywhere.
metaparts is a service of Class.Ing, specialists in ECLASS and product data management.
Matching instead of re-describing.
Class, properties, units and value lists come from the virtual article; the manufacturer only adds what makes the product special.
The VMID (Validated MetaParts Identity) documents data quality in four levels from Bronze to Platinum.
One maintained data record delivers BMEcat, AAS, DPP and API access.
metaparts is not another PIM; ERP, PIM and PLM remain, and data sovereignty stays with the company.
The first readiness report shows gaps for DPP, AAS or BMEcat – free of charge.
Manufacturers first see where they stand and what is missing for the obligation – before they invest.
Analyze, Standardize, Provide.
Three steps from existing raw data to provisioned standard data. Each step can be used on its own.
Product Data Readiness
Upload existing data (Excel, CSV, BMEcat); comparison against complete products for DPP, AAS or BMEcat.
Readiness report with score and gap list – entry report free of charge
Product Data Standardization
Classification, mapping, harmonisation of properties, units and texts against the virtual articles.
Classified articles with complete properties and a VMID level
Managed Product Data Provisioning
Controlled provisioning via API, search, exports, assortments, connection to portals and repositories.
BMEcat, AASX, AAS API, DPP API; release to distributors and platforms
Data quality in four levels.
The levels build on each other: each higher level includes all criteria of the levels below. Buyers can simply require a minimum level instead of setting up their own data checks.

Criteria: manufacturer and supplier data; classification (ECLASS, UNSPSC, ETIM, CPV, GPC, NCS); main properties
Use: findability, tenders, purchasing

Criteria: + complete technical properties; data readiness for DPP and AAS
Use: Asset Administration Shell, product passport, engineering

Criteria: + GTIN-based packaging structure; PPWR information; images and documents
Use: trade, packaging obligations, catalogues

Criteria: + connection of external systems and platforms via API; product-specific external access
Use: platforms, distributors, automated retrieval
AktionMED and AktionMechanik.
In two pilot campaigns, seven manufacturers each receive professionally prepared metaparts product data for around 50 articles free of charge – as AAS, with ECLASS classification and as a catalogue. AktionMED runs in cooperation with the ECLASS expert group for medical technology; AktionMechanik is aimed at manufacturers of mechanical components.
For semi-finished products, a database created with the trade association WGM already exists, from which several million articles can be derived.
